Development
of free and independent media in Central Asia is critical to the future
development of the region - without it, regimes have the ability to do as they
wish - with no local knowledge of the extent of their manipulation. Mulberry Media has been working with international partners since 1999 on the following
projects to support the development of a sustainable local media: |

With partner: IMS International Media Support (IMS) is an international NGO promoting peace, stability, democracy, freedom of expression and media pluralism in areas threatened by conflict, crisis or severe human insecurity. On 1 February 2006, IMS initiated a large-scale programme supporting media development in Central Asia. The programme - funded by the Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs – builds on projects from 2002-2004, and the 2005 pilot project, to work with radio stations from Ferghana Valley, to co-produce radio documentaries with a specific focus on the themes of terrorism and extremism. |
With partner: IREX Working with International Research and Exchange (IREX), we are conducting a series of workshops training young journalists in Central Asia from August 2006, focusing on using technology in radio and web broadcasting. Young journalists based in Central Asia that are interested in joining the program are welcome to get in touch. |
